Probability of Target Attainment for Cefuroxime (CXM) Dosage Against Some Common Bacteria
Introduction:
Cefuroxime is one of the most widely used cephalosporins. Optimal dosing, however, is still discussed since MICs of CXM for common Gram-negative pathogens are relatively high compared to CXM in plasma on usual doses. Here, we performe a pharmacokinetic study in order to estimate optimal dosage regimens (i.v.) for cefuroxime. Monte Carlo simulations are based on data for CXM serum concentrations after i.v. bolus of 750 mg and 1500 mg, respectively, from 20 healthy volunteers.
